Spring Fling Week

We are approaching Easter and are so thrilled to have our annual "New Life" Easter celebration.  We have so many fun things planned for this event, so we invite you all to come and spend this special time with your child.  If you cannot make it, no worries; we love taking photos of your precious little ones!!!

We look forward to seeing you this week!  As a reminder, please bring the specified amount of filled eggs for your child's class day, along with your child's Easter basket or bag labeled with his/her name on it.

Our Easter Egg Hunt will be at 11:30 on each class day and will be located on the Owl/Bluebird Playground.

This week in the Bluebird Class we will focus on Easter, and New Life.  We loved sharing the resurrection eggs with the children and want to focus on celebrating this glorious week, knowing that our Lord and Savior is Risen.  

Sand and Water: Dirt, flowers, snakes, bugs, shovels, mini rakes, cups for filling and planting flowers.

Sensory Table: Making colored macaroni necklaces, using yarn.

Blocks: Giant Bugs, Blocks.

Art: Spring Flowers, using Koush balls to paint with.

Circle: Jelly bean flannel board game to focus on number correspondence and colors. The Easter Story, Bible Verse, "Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5.

This is an exciting week full of fun! We are so in love with each and every Bluebird and are so proud of them all! Thank you as always for sharing your little ones with us each week.

 We want to remind you as the weather continues to get hotter, we will offer more water centers and will therefore need more changes of clothes.  Please note as well, to apply bug spray and sunscreen before school if needed. We look forward to this week!!!

Bluebirds This Week

This week we will be introducing our theme for the month, which will center around Spring, new life, insects, and our nursery rhyme, Mary, Mary How Contrary. 

Our Bible Verse for the month is "Behold, I Make all Things New." Revelation 21:5. 

There are so many wonderful opportunities to learn about new life around us as we discover butterflies, ladybugs, and worms.  We will also be planting bean seeds and bedding flowers on the playground to water and watch grow.  God has blessed us with the beauty of nature, and we want to instill the love of His creation as Spring unfolds.

With the warmer weather brings sun and our enemy, the mosquito! We ask that you make sure your little ones are protected by applying creams before school. 

Also, with warmer weather we will be offering water centers everyday.  Please make sure your child has a couple of changes of clothes.  We love the water!!

Sand Table: Potting soil, Easter grass, shovels, mini rakes, snakes, insects, and worms.

Road Rally

It is once again time for our annual Road Rally where the children will bring their favorite riding toy, scooter, or bike up for a scheduled time to ride around our rally track.  

 

We look forward to seeing all the Bluebirds racing around the track this week!  A few reminders as we get ready for this event, we want to keep our Bluebirds safe.  Please send in a labeled bike helmet along with your child's favorite riding toy. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your little one's toes.  

 

We will have a spot outside, in front of the office for Bluebird parking.  Please feel free to drop your child and his/her riding toy and helmet in carline or if you would rather, walk your child's riding toy up and park it under the designated area.  Again, we ask that you label your child's riding toy and helmet to avoid any confusion.

Go Texan Week Is Here!

We are so excited for our upcoming week!  This is such a special time as we celebrate all things Texas!  We have enjoyed this month of Valentines, Loving our friends and now, Rodeo.

This month we have enjoyed sensory play with hearts, red pasta, play-doh, and pink cornstarch goo.  Such fun!  We will continue to focus on our Bible Verse, "Love One Another." 1John 4:7, as we share s'mores around a pretend campfire.  

Sensory Table: 

Blue rice, red pasta, tin pie pans, horses, cows.

Water Table:

Hay, Rodeo animals.

Block Center:

Farm, animals, foam blocks.

Art: 

Bluebonnet art, using blue paint, white paint, popcorn, and pantyhose.

Bandanas, cowboy hats, pretend cowboy coffee pot for campfire, pretend campfire.

Our Rodeo Days will be, Feb. 25th, 26th, and Friday, the 28th.

We will have our pretend Rodeo on the side yard with Ms. Betty, our motor movement teacher. She has so many fun mock rodeo things planned for the children.  We look forward to seeing all of the fun western wear this week!

Parent Teacher Conferences This Week

 

We are all so excited to meet with each and every one of you to discuss your child's development and how special each and every child is to us.  We look forward to meeting with you this week.  

 

Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, Wednesday, February 5, and Thursday, February 6.  School will be closed to normal classes on those days, as we want to devote time to each and every parent to discuss and praise your sweet little ones! 

 

 We ask that if you possibly can, not to bring your child with you.  If you can work out trading off with another mommy for a few minutes, that would be ideal; but if not, we will have an area set up for play for your children.  We want to make this day as easy on you as possible.

We will have classes on Monday, February 3rd and that will be our make-up pajama day, as we missed this event due to school closings.

 

We will have regular classes on Friday, February 7th and will introduce our new Bible Verse, "Love One Another", 1 John 4:7.  We will also work on our bulletin board, decorating it with hearts, doilies, stickers, and red paint.  This is the time of year where we focus on loving one another, so we will be working together to show ways of loving our friends.

Sensory Tables: Red and pink pasta, with hearts and glitter.

Water Table: Fishing nets, pink foam hearts to catch.

Blocks: Connecting people (for friends), hearts to stack.

Home Living: Cupcake tins for baking, sharing heart cookie shapes, mailbox, paper and stamps for delivering mail to friends.

Books: Mouse's Valentine, Guess How Much I Love You, I Am Special (song), Hickory, Dickory Dock Nursery Rhyme.

Art: Painting with red, making a special card for Mom and Dad.

 

We love this time of year as it focuses on the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and gives us a chance to show that love to your sweet little ones.  Thank you for all that you do and for allowing us the privilege of teaching your children.

Pajama Days are Here!!

This week we will enjoy our annual pajama days on your child's class day: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  We will be enjoying the fun of making pancakes and the best part; eating them!!!  Please send your child in his/her pajamas with tennis shoes or other closed-toe-shoes as we will still play on the playground.  Of course a change of clothes is always recommended as we still have accidents and get wet from the various sensory tables offered.

We will be reading If You Give a Pig a Pancake  and mixing red and white to make pink to paint a pig shape.  So fun!! We love this event and look forward to seeing all the fun pajamas this week!

Bluebird Conferences are Coming

This week in the Bluebird class we will continue to explore snow, ice, and our nursery rhyme, The Three Little Kittens.

We will have our first Motor Movement class of the New Year this week, along with resuming our regular Chapel Schedule.

We have come so far this school year and watching the Bluebirds grow and change has been such a privilege for us. 
We will have our mid-year conferences on February 4,5,6.  The sign up sheets are on the bulletin board outside of our door.  Please come in and sign up for a time on your child's class day.  If you have scheduling problems with sibling's times, etc., please stop by and we will try and resolve them. 

Due to conferences on these days, school will be closed.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow.......

We want to thank you all for your generous gifts to us during Christmas.  We hope you all had a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  This month we will be focusing on Winter, Snow and our nursery rhyme, The Three Little Kittens.

Ho Ho Ho........

Christmas is approaching soon and we are all getting into the Christmas spirit. We are so thankful for this time of year with your little ones!!!  We love sharing the meaning of Christmas and all the festivities that go with it.  

This month we will focus on the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and loving our friends.

We so love each and every one of your special little ones and enjoy teaching them each week.  This time of year is so special as we are able to share the true meaning of Christmas and how special each and everyone is to Jesus.   Thank you for all you do and for sharing your precious children with us.

Gobble, Gobble!

The Bluebird class is steadily moving along and we are all amazed that we are already into November!! 
We all enjoyed the Fall Festival where many apples were eaten, beanbags tossed, and hay stacked. 

The sights and smells of Autumn are alive as we continue to learn all about the leaves changing colors and crunching underfoot, and we even painted them! In addition, we have shucked corn, painted with it, and opened pumpkins to discover what's inside. This is the time of year that we get excited to share meals, cook together, and focus on what we are most thankful for.

In continuing to learn and focus on these things, we will be washing vegetables in our sensory table and making a friendship mix and turkey hand prints.

Our Bible Verse this month is "Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is good." Psalm 136:1

Bluebird Tweets......

Fall has arrived in the Bluebird room!  We are enjoying all the sights, textures and smells of fall.  We are using our senses to discover all that nature has to offer us this time of year.  

Our focus this month will be Autumn, leaves, pumpkins, spiders and farm animals.  Our Bible Verse is, "A Friend Loves at All Times." Proverbs 17:17.  Your child will be bringing home paper dolls with band-aids to illustrate that we love our friends.  It will also have our Bible Verse displayed on it. Ask your child to show you the hand motions! The children are amazing to watch!  Such a blessing, and each time they are hiding God's Word in their heart.

We had our first Motor Movement Class with Ms. Betty and Ms. Gail this week and all the children loved taking turns rolling the big red ball, playing with beanbags and following along to fun movement songs.  It was a big hit with the children!  So many giggles and smiles.

This week in the Bluebirds class we will continue to focus on all about me and my family, our Bible verse, I Am Wonderfully Made and our nursery rhyme this month, Mary Had a Little Lamb.  

Our first week of Friends and Fun went really well!  We enjoyed having your sweet little ones!  Thank you so very much for labeling all of your children's things. It really helps in making sure your items are returned.  

We had our first transition to the chapel room to visit Ms. Melinda and everyone adjusted very well and enjoyed seeing Scruffy, our chapel puppet.  Check out Ms. Melinda's chapel page for all the info for the month.

We will have sensory days on the playground this week.  Ms. Ellen, our playground coordinator has some fun things planned.  We will be enjoying all things sensory such as ice and mud, as well as dry items.  Hopefully with the change in weather this week, we will see less mosquitoes!

We will continue most of the same indoor centers as young children need repetition and they may discover something new from things that have already been in the classroom. 

Our centers provide opportunities for social interaction, discovery and self-expression. We so love seeing all of the fun discoveries they make every week!!!

For art this week will be making apple prints using apples, red, yellow and green paint.  It should be fun to see the reaction we get using apples to paint!  We are already compiling some fun art for our end of year scrapbooks! 

Also, as a reminder, Ms. Karen, our floater, has requested if your child wears pull-ups to send the side-fastening velcro type as it makes for quick changes. Thank you so much!

Bluebird News........

Our first full week was fantastic!  We so enjoyed getting to know your little ones and having fun playing in centers!  We had our first art project for our scrapbooks and played in lots of messy, creative ways. Check out all the awesome pictures on Shutterfly!!

So much fun to have a full day!  We enjoyed our first Chapel day with Ms. Melinda.  She visited our classroom this time to ease transition upsets.  The children so enjoyed her chapel puppet "Scrappy" and loved singing, "Our God is a Great Big God" with all of the hand motions. 

Also, we do a bible verse once a month not only in chapel, but in our daily circle.  We will be sending home a small art project each month with our bible verse written on it.  Ask your child to do the hand motions!  Most of them may only do one or two of the motions, but we are hiding God's word in our hearts each time we recite it. Your children are precious!

We are settling in very well and are excited about the upcoming week.

As a reminder, please label everything!  We appreciate you sending your children in socks and closed-toed shoes as it cuts down on boo-boos.  Also, for speedy diapering, would you please send side-velcro pull-ups if your child is in pull-ups, otherwise diapers are perfect.

We are so proud of each and every one of our Bluebirds and are already smitten with them!  Thank you for sharing your little ones with us each week! 

Gradual Entry Week

We had such a wonderful gradual entry week getting to know each and everyone of your precious little ones!  We kicked the year off with lots of fun centers and outdoor play.

For gradual entry, we put our focus on separating easily from Mom and Dad and providing many child-directed centers for the children to enjoy.  We feel that everyone did an exceptional job and came in ready to play!  It was a fun week!

For our first full days in school next week, we will be offering centers and activities that are all about Me and My Family. We also will be learning nursery rhymes and this month will be Mary Had a Little Lamb.

Centers this week:

Sensory Table:  Family dolls, rice, pets, scoops and cups.
Water Table: Washing babies with scrubbies and bubbles.
Block Center: Lambs, blocks, magnets.
Home Living: Dishes, food, place settings.
Writing: Play-doh, cookie cutters.
Art: Painting with red.
Circle: Dot sticker game (to identify body parts), singing Mary Had a Little Lamb and reading When I Go to Preschool.

 We will continue working on separation and promoting independence this week.  Carline will begin and that is definitely a great way to help with separation.  It is always optional, and of course we welcome you to drop off at the door if you choose.   Carline will begin promptly at 9:00 am and ends at 9:15.  For pick-up, carline will start at 12:00.  Please remember to place your child's name plate in your windshield for pick-up.

Also, as a reminder, please do label all of your child's things as we do have lots of mix-ups with identical items.  Please label your child's diaper/pull up with his or her name on front. Due to licensing rules, we cannot apply sunscreen, so please do apply if you think it necessary.  Thank you so much!
